올해도 10월의 마지막 밤이 돌아왔습니다. 

It's Halloween!!

 

왜 할로윈땐 호박을 조각하는건지도 모른는채 혜빈이가 졸라서 올해도 호박을 사러 갔습니다.

쌓여있는 호박들이 어찌나 많은지.. 

매해 할로윈때 이런 큰호박을 볼때면 제 어렸을적에 할머니가 호박죽 써줘서 맛있게 먹었던 기억이 새록 새록 생각납니다. 

우리 혜빈인 이런 큰 호박보면 할로윈부터 생각하겠지요?

작년은 그냥 호박 귀신 얼굴을 조각 했는데 올해는 난위도가 조금 있는 해골 얼굴로 그리기로 결정했습니다.

어려운  밑그림은 엄마와 함께 하기로 했습니다.

This is really the first year Olivia kind of gets Halloween.  She was bugging us for a few weeks to carve a pumpkin, so of course we finally gave in.  Last year we carved just a regular jack-o-lantern, but this year we got a little brave and tried to do a skeleton pirate.  The template was a little too small for the pumpkin so Insun freehanded the drawing onto the pumpkin....

 

그다지 어렵지 않은 조각은 아빠와 함께..

집에있는 그 수많은 칼들과 주걱을 뒤로한채 구~지 구지 5불을 주고 사온 전문 호박 조각용 칼과 주걱...

제가 볼땐 집에 있는 칼과 주걱과 별 다른 차이점도 모르겠구만... 

신랑은 태어나서 자기가 쓴 5불중에 최고로 잘 쓴거 같다면서 어찌나 자랑스러워 하는지....

Dad was in charge of the hard labor... Even though our house is full of spoons and knives, Dad had to buy a $5 "pumpkin carving kit".  I couldn't really tell a difference from anything we have here, but Nate said it was the best $5 dollars he's ever spent and that the tools cut through the pumpkin like a hot knife through butter.  Whatever!

몇번의 실수와 고정그리고  실수와 고정을 마치고 완성된 해골얼굴...
건전지용 작은 전기 초불을 안에 놓고 현관문에 놔두었더니 아주 그럴싸해 보입니다.

After a few hiccups in the execution of the design, this is what we came up with. Not bad, I guess....
