Before and After

.

After many years of wanting one, I finally got a China Hutch!  After spending about a week looking all over Craig's list, we finally found a "winner" for $150 in Huntington Beach.  We borrowed a friends truck, picked it up on a Saturday afternoon and had it all sanded and primed by Saturday night.  Then I (Insun) spent two days painting it, and finished it off by putting on new hardware, and then "glazing" the cabinet with black tinted glaze.  It was 4 days of pretty hard work, but I ended up with a hutch that I really love.  After all of the work we put into it, I feel really satisfied every time I look at it :)

Wow! You rock. Seriously an amazing job you did! Can you do a hutch for me? I have been wanting one forever, but can't find one I love. I wouldn't have a clue how to make an old brown one look so cute like this. I am impressed!

LOVE IT! I see those ugly hutches being given away on craigslist all the time and never would have thought to do what you did. My husband is going to be so mad at you for giving me this idea. ;) I won't tell him who told me.

I also linked over from Facebook. Your hutch is beautiful! It makes me wish I had room for one in my house! I hope you don't mind, but when I saw that you were Korean I just had to look at more of your blog. My husband is Korean and we also have 2 little girls so it is fun to see other families like ours. Your girls are beautiful by the way!

Just saw your hutch on allthingsthrifty.com and I love it! Did you have to replace the glass? If not how did you change the diamonds in the glass to white? I really want to do my own hutch and I think that was a great finishing touch.

Thanks for all the comments. In answer to your question - The glass actually came out pretty easily. Then we just painted the brass diamonds white. The glass was being held down by little brackets that I had to loosen with a screwdriver. Hope that helps.
