4년 전에 우연히 헌트 토마토 캔에 있는 레서피를 보고는

매 여름마다 거의 매일 같이 만들고 있는 

검은콩 살사
4 Years ago I tried a recipe that was on the side of a Hunt's Stewed Tomatoes can, and it was so good it seems like we make it every day now. 
( black bean salsa)....

black beans, yellow corn, cilantro, 

chopped onion, avocado, lime juice, salt, diced tomatoes

어느 한 여름 더운날씨에 입맛을 잃어 검은콩 살사를 만들었습니다.

옆에서 가만히 지켜보던 혜빈이가 다 썰어 넣고 남은 아보카도 씨앗을 보더니 한참을 가지고 놀더니 앞마당으로 가서 한참을 안들어옵니다. 

조용히 나가서 보니 열심히 고사리 같은 손으로 땅을 파 아보카도 씨앗을 심고있습니다.
One day earlier this summer, I was making this salsa and Olivia saw the avocado seed and had a great idea.  She played with the seed for a while then went outside in our front yard and kept playing.  I peeked outside and saw her digging a hole in the dirt. 

씨앗을 어디에 어떻게 언제 얼마나 깊게 심어야하는지도 모르고 

그냥 땅에 씨앗만 심으면 큰 나무가 된다는거만 알고 

삽도 없이 그 작은손으로 땅을 파서 씨앗을 넣어서 덮었답니다. 

ㅋㅋㅋ...

우리 순진한 4살 혜빈이...
She obviously didn't know what she was doing.  She just figured if she planted a seed then a tree would grow from it.  So that's exactly what she did!

그런데 이게 어쩐일이랍니까???
And not too long later.....

모서리에서 한잎씩 한잎씩 땅을 뚫고 나오더니만 

어느새 이렇게 많이 컸습니다.
We have a new plant growing in our little planter.

우리 혜빈이가 심은 아보카도 씨앗

엄마가 꼬~옥 아보카도 나무로 만들께~
We're going to see if we can turn Olivia's seed into a big avocado tree!!
