Snow day

2008년도에도 마지막 겨울을 유타에서 보냈습니다.
참 눈이 많이 왔습니다. "아 추워! 아추워!" 하면서도 어찌나 눈을 좋아하는지..
그런데 썰매는 너무 많이 무서워했습니다.

We spent the last week of 2008 in Utah, and it snowed a ton. Olivia loved the snow and kept saying "It's cold! It's cold!" But she wasn't a big fan of sledding behind Grandpa's 4 wheeler.

2007년 혜빈이 5개월때 사진하고
2008년 혜빈이 16개월대 사진..
5개월땐 거의 잠만 자더니 이번엔 좀 컸다고 3번정도 깨다가 자다가 한거 같다. 그래도 무난하게 온거같다.

These were both taken in the plane on the way to Korea about 11 months apart.

Bath Time!

몸이 아파 나가질 못해서 겨우 목욕사진만 올림...
혜빈이 머리가 벌써 이렇게나 자랐네...
목욕통이 없어 임시방편으로 세면대에서...
그래도 혜빈이 자기앞에 큰 거울이 있어 넘 좋아함.

This is one of the only pictures of Olivia in Korea. She loved having that giant mirror in front of her during bath time. She didn't have her bath tub so they just made due with the sink.

Korean is hard!!!

5박 6일 캘리로 놀러오신 울 시어머니..
덕분에 울 혜빈이 할머니랑 넘 잼있게 놀았습니다.
할머니 유타로 돌아가신거 알면 서운해 하지 않을까 걱정입니다.
Grandpa and Grandma came down to play with Olivia for a few days. Grandma spoiled Olivia by playing with her ALL DAY, EVERY DAY that she was down here. Olivia's going to be so bored now that her Na Na isn't here to play with her....

울 혜빈이 책 넘 좋아한다. 할아버지 피곤하셔서 낮잠 주무시는데 기어이 깨워서 책 읽어달란다...
Olivia LOVES books. Even though Grandpa was tired and always taking a nap (he slept 75% of the total time he was here), Olivia kept bringing him books to read to her.

For baby Augustine....

서하가 드뎌 태어났다. 뜻깊은 선물을 주고 싶어서 곰곰히 생각하다가....나 애기낳고 친구가 선물로 준 기저귀 주머니와 애기수건 주머니를 생각했다. 항상 가방에 가지고다니면서 쓸때마다 친구 생각 많이 했다. 지영이도 그랬음 좋겠다. 정성껏 만들었으니 많이 좋아해줬음 좋겠다.

모유 먹일때 쓰는 앞치마..
친구 지영이 담달에 애기 낳는다.
공공장소에서 모유수유 할때 꼭 필요할거 같아 정성껏 만들어 선물로 줬음..

혜빈이 드뎌 짐보리 다닙니다.
놀이기구도 많고 친구도 많아서 아주 좋아합니다.
이럴줄 알았음 진작에 보낼걸 후회합니다.
친구 앞에서 농구 시범을 보이는데 어찌나 자랑스럽고 뿌듯하던지..ㅋㅋㅋ
아빠 닮아서 농구는 잘 할려나 봅니다.
자기가 해놓곤 좋아라 박수칩니다.

Insun recently started taking Olivia to Gymboree, and I guess she loves it. The "class" is 45 minutes long and Olivia doesn't sit still for 1 second. In this video, she had to show the girly boy how to dunk a basketball. Don't worry though, even though she obviously got some of my ballin' genes, I promise I won't let her grow up to be a women's basketball player...I definitely can't afford that.

저도 이시간이 좋습니다.
이시간에는 고요하고 얌전한 혜빈이로 돌아오기때문입니다.

Good little helper

식기세척기에서 그릇빼기는 아빠담당...
아빠가 세척기 문만 열어도 달려가서 아빠를 도와준다.
컵 하나를 들고 "대다 " 젓가락 한짝을 들고도 "대다" 한다.
주로 미국에서 아기들이 첨으로 하는말로써 아빠를 부르는 소리다.

Daddy's in charge of unloading the dishwasher in our house, and recently I've found a great little helper. Every time I open the dishwasher Olivia runs over and is eager to help me unload it...even when I am actually trying to load it. She says "Dada" after she picks up each thing that needs to be unloaded and hands it to me. What a great helper!!

Geej took some pictures of us after church on Sunday...

신랑 친구 내외가 4박5일 캘리로 놀러왔다. 헤어지기 직전에 와이프랑 찰칵.
Grant, Tara, and Banks spent a few nights at our house, but we didn't take any pictures until a couple of minutes before they left! We had so much fun hanging out together...Come again soon!

같이 있으면서 혜빈이를 엄청 괴롭히더니 울 혜빈이 뽀뽀도 하기 싫었나보다..ㅋㅋ
Banks gave Olivia a good-bye kiss, but it doesn't look like she was too happy about it...Good job honey! NO BOYS!!!

I want that sandwich!!

점심시간이다. 야채계란 샌드위치..
밥만 먹다가 오래간만에 특식을 보니 넘 먹고싶었나보다. 테이블에 놓자마자 어찌나 먹고싶어하던지 ..여러번 시도하다 정안되겠는지 울다가 나보더니 앉어서 "주세요" 한다..
It was lunch time and Insun made Olivia an omelet sandwich, and I guess she was pretty excited to have a break from her daily rice because as soon as Insun put it on her highchair tray she started climbing up trying to get the sandwich. She tried a bunch of times but gave up after a while and went back to sitting down, folding her arms and saying "Juseyo!"

Weekends at Newport Beach...

원래 내 모잔데 한번 빨고나니 사정없이 쫄았다.
리본달고 목 걸이 만들어 달아서 혜빈이한테 줬는데 참 잘어울린다.
This is Olivia's beach gear. That hat used to be Insun's but she washed it once and it shrunk. So she put some ribbon on it and attached a chin strap(?) and now Olivia wears it. Olivia loves the beach, but hates the hat.

My favorite food.~

토요일마다 자전거타고 바닷가에 놀러간다.
일주일에 한번씩 먹는김밥 왜이리 맛있는지..
혜빈이가 많이 커서 이젠 제법 김밥을 잘먹는다..
혜빈이건 아보카도, 당근, 치킨, 오이 만 넣었다.
그래도 맛있다고 얼마나 잘 먹는지..세상에서 젤 좋아하는 과일도 마다하고 김밥만 찾았다.

Every Saturday we ride our bikes down to the beach, and Insun makes us Korean style California Rolls. They are so money! Insun also makes mini-California rolls for Olivia, you can't really tell how small they are in the picture, but they are little enough for her to eat and they're filled with avocado, carrots, cucumbers and chicken. Usually her favorite thing to eat is fruit, but now she wants the California Rolls even more than the fruit!

엄마의 60번째 생신을 축하드려요..
달력에 적어놨는데 담주인지 알았는데 이번주네..진짜로~~~
내가 한국에 있었음 혜빈이 손잡고 광주로 내려갔을텐데..쬠만 기달려요..9월에 감 그때 신나게 놀아요..항상 행복하시고 건강하세요. 엄마가 건강해야지 우리 모두가 건강할수있다는거 알죠?
태석이한텐 미안한데 엄마 사진이 요것밖에 없어서 기냥 요걸로 올려요..

It was my mother-in-law's 60th birthday last week. That is a pretty big deal in Korea. Sorry we couldn't be there mom! Always be healthy and happy! We love you!

멍~ Bruise....

미안해서리...
이거 올렸다가 괜히 아동 학대범으로 경찰에 잡혀 가는건 아닌지..미국에선 그런다던데...
이마에 생긴 멍은 혜빈이의자 위로 올라가다가 몸무게에 의자가 못 버티고 같이 떨어지는 바람에 의자 등에 이마가 부딪혀서 생긴거고 볼에 있는건 거실 테이블에서 놀다가 생긴것임...
미안해 혜빈아~

Sorry honey!!
Olivia just started walking and she is now trying to get onto and into everything. She tried to climb up onto a folding chair and the chair fell back on her bruising her forehead. Something tells me that this isn't going to be the last bruise she gets.....

My hair cut

기분이 무지 무지 꿀꿀했는데 머리 자르고 나니 한결 나아졌다.
엄마머리가 바꿨는데도 우리 혜빈이 전혀 모르는것 같다.

Insun was feeling a little depressed so she decided to cut her hair. I think she looks hot but Olivia doesn't seem to notice any difference.

식기세척기에서 그릇을 빼는데 혜빈이 갑자기 문위를 올라서더니 아빠를 도와줍니다.
혜빈이 많이 컸죠?

She loves helping daddy unload the dishwasher. She takes things out one at a time and gives them to daddy...so cute!

Please!!

Olivia has learned how to say “Please” in Korean now….kinda. In Korea, the polite way to ask for something is by holding out two hands and saying “Ju-sayo”. All kids are taught this from a young age. Olivia kinda has the hang of it – she folds her arms and says some three syllable word that is supposed to be “Ju-sayo”. Now whenever she wants something, whether it be food or something else, she folds her arms and says “Ju-sayo!”

My First Steps....

혜빈이가 첨으로 혼자서 걸었습니다.
오늘 아버지의 날인데 아빠한테 아주 큰 선물을 한것같습니다.
아빠가 혜빈이 보다 더 좋아합니다.

Olivia finally took her first steps on Father's Day!! What a perfect present!!
As you can hear, daddy was pretty excited about it. He is saying "Go to Mommy" in Korean.
Now she is trying to walk all over the house! It's so much fun!

Where did the ball go?!?

공이 아래로 굴러 들어갔습니다. 쇼파 밑으로...텔레비젼 아래로...손가락질만 열심히 하면서 어쩔지 몰라합니다..

Olivia's favorite toys are anything that looks like a ball. Her toy balls keep rolling under the furniture so she is always looking under it for them...Her little bum sticking up in the air is so cute..

Olivia is learing to walk!

드뎌 드뎌 걷기시작했습니다. 그래도 손을 잡아야만 걷습니다. 몇번 쿵~하는 바람에 혼자 걷는게 무섭나봅니다. 혼자 걷다가도 엄마 아빠손이 안느껴지면 그자리에 바로 주져앉습니다. 이번 기회에 나의 back pain도 없어졌으면 합니다.

Olivia is finally starting to walk...but only if you hold her hand. She could do it by herself, but she is afraid she will fall down. Sometimes we will let go of her hand and she will keep walking for a couple of steps, but then she realizes we are not there anymore so she hurries and sits down. Hopefully my back pain will start to go away...she is a heavy little girl!

Apricot

우리집 뒷마당에 살구나무가 있는줄 오늘에서야 알았습니다.
혜빈이 아빠랑 살구를 보면서 넘 좋아하네요..

We have an apricot tree in our backyard and Olivia loves it. Of course, she calls the apricots "ball."


넘 맛있게 보여 따 봤는데 아직 완전히 익지는 않았네요.
그래도 넘 맛있네요. 나 어렸을때도 집 마당에 자두 나무있었는데 그때도 익지도 않은 자두가 어찌나 맛있던지.. 그때 생각이 나네요..

새들이 먹다가 떨어져버린 살구를 들고 너무나 좋아하는 혜빈이.

혜빈이만 좋아하는지 알았는데...
I thought Olivia was the only one who liked the apricots, but.....

종종 오는 다람쥐(?)도 좋아하네요..
I guess the squirrel likes them too! (BTW, this squirrel has no fear. Like the squirrel that didn't get out of the way for George in Seinfeld, this guy apparently doesn't know that "we have a deal."

What's for dinner?

특별히 오늘밤은 신랑 다이어트를 위해 월남쌈을 준비했다.
쌀국수는 가끔 나가서 사먹을수있지만 월남쌈 파는데는 아직까지 찾질 못해서 오늘 큰맘 먹고 직접 만들었는데 생각보단 그다지 어렵지않았다.
소스론 땅콩소스와 피쉬소스로 준비했는데 난 개인적으로 피쉬소스가 더 맘에 들고 신랑은 당연히 땅콩소스..
첨 4장 까지는 맛있게 먹었는데 그뒤론 야채에 질려서... 우리 불쌍한 혜빈이는 딸랑 쌀국수로만 배채우고, 신랑은 뭐가 좀 부족하다면서 다먹고 나서 라면 찾더라. 띠리리~

Insun made me a special dinner tonight saying it is good for my diet...I think she is trying to tell me something. It is a Viet Namese dish where you wrap vegetables and chicken in a thin rice paper. It was really good! She is such a good cook and I am so spoiled!
Poor Olivia couldn't have any because of a peanut sauce in them, so we gave her rice noodles.
