처음으로 만들어보는 생강으로 만든 과자로 만든 집(?)...
헨젤과 그랜젤 동화책에서만 봤던 과자집...
혜빈이 보다 내가 더 신나게 만든거 같습니다.
하나 붙히고 하나 먹고... 하나 붙히고 두개 먹고...
혜빈인 만드는거 보다 먹는게 더 재미있나봅니다.
제가 어렸을적엔 먹는걸로 이렇게 놀이할 생각은 하지도 못했는데...
우리 애들이 참 부럽습니다.

짜잔~ 

드뎌 아이들 놀이방이 완성 되었습니다. 

이 방 저 방 돌아다니면서 어질더니 놀이방이 생긴후론 이방에서만 어질면서 놉니다.

Ta-da!!  We finally finished the girls' playroom.  The girls used to make a mess of the whole house, but now they just play in and mess up their playroom.

엄청 오래된 텔레비젼은 필요한분께 기부하고 쓸데없이 크나큰 일립티클 운동기구는 차고로 나갔습니다. 

We gave the old TV away to our gardener, and moved the elliptical out to the garage.

3년전에 시어머니로 부터 받은 액자4개 창고에 묵혀 두다가 
하얀 종이에 글자 오려내서 색지에 붙혀 놨더니 그럴싸하네요. 
I refinished 4 frames that my mother-in-law gave me several years ago by putting white letters on colored paper.

혜빈이 다빈이가 특별히 좋아하는 책들로만 선별해서 꽂아놨습니다.
I put only Olivia's and Sophie's favorite books on these bookshelves.

이렇게 앞 표지가 보이게 책을 꽂아놓으면 아이들이 책읽기에 훨씬 흥미를 갖는데요.

They say that kids tend to read a lot more books when you put them facing outwards like this.

앞표지가 보이게 책을 놓을수있는 책장을 찾다가 

우연히 지붕에 설치하는 홈통(빗물이나 나뭇잎 떠내려가게 지붕아래부분에 설치하는 반통)으로 책꽂이를 만드는법을 보고 만들어 봤습니다.

만들어져서 파는 책장 보다 훨씬 저렴하고 책을 여러권 많이 넣을수있어서 참 맘에 듭니다.

I was looking for a front facing bookshelf online and I found a site where someone had made these bookshelves out of rain gutters.  I thought it was a great idea so of course I copied it. It ended up being a lot cheaper than a bookshelf and I think it looks a lot better too.

외할머니가 사준 부엌가구 

혜빈이 날마다 뭘 만드는지 딸그닥 딸끄닥...

요새는 다빈이까지 언니따라 딸그닥 딸그닥...

Olivia loves pretending to cook at her play kitchen that her Grandma bought her.  And now, Sophie is starting to copy everything her older sister does :)

혜빈이 푸우와  Tea Party 중. 

유리로 만들어진 차 잔은 다 깨버리고 이제 남는건 플라스틱 차잔밖에 없네요.

Olivia's having a tea party with Pooh... She broke all of her glass tea set that Nana bought her so she is using her plastic princess cups.  We bought the table on Craig's list for $20.

벽 한개가 훵~하게 비여서 무엇을 해야하나 함참을 고민하다가 

가장 저렴하게 큰 효과를 볼수있는 핸드페인트로 결정하고

인터넷 뒤져 이쁜 나무 그림을 하나 찾아내서 그리고 창문위에 새 하나도 그렸습니다.

I didn't know what I wanted to do with the big, empty wall, but after thinking about it for a while I thought hand painting something on the wall would be a good idea.  I looked all over the internet for something that might be cute, and I found a decal on potterybarn.com of this tree. So I just freehanded a picture of it on the wall.  Then I decided to paint a bird above the window too.  I think it turned out alright :)

Happy Thanksgiving

이번 추수감사절은 

6시간을 차를 타고 라스베가스를 지나서 

St. George에 사시는 시할머님과 이모님집에서 보냈습니다.

This year for Thanksgiving we made the 6 hour trek to St. George.

처음으로 보는 칠면조가 참 신기 한가 봅니다. 

주위만 맴맴맴 돌다가 시아버지 덕택에 칼질 한번해 봅니다.

Olivia was so intrigued by the big turkey. It was her first time ever seeing one. She kept hanging out in the the kitchen so Grandpa gave her a chance to carve the turkey.She was so serious.  

아무것도 한거 없이 이렇게 잘 차려진 식탁에서 

그냥 받아먹기가 참 죄송스러웠지만 참 맛있게 먹었습니다.

We didn't do ANYTHING to help so I felt kind of bad just sitting there and eating.  The table was decorated so beautifully by Aunt Jeanine and Great Grandma made the most delicious meal.

다먹고 난후 혜빈이 다빈이는 오빠와 언니들과 신나게 놀았습니다. 

The girls had such a blast playing with their cousins.

다빈이 시어머니와 친해지기까지 조금 시간이 걸렸지만 지금은 마냥 좋아합니다.
It took a little bit, but Sophie finally warmed up to Nana.

Fish Pond- 추수감사절때마다 시댁식구들이 하는 게임인데 아이들이 참 좋아하네요.

낙시를해서 물고기 대신 장남감이나 캔디를 건지는 게임인데 우리 혜빈이 참 큰것도 건졌네요. 

Every Thanksgiving the kids get to participate in a "Fish Pond".  Olivia thought this was the greatest thing. She got a purse and some candy too.  She had so much fun.

추수감사절의 마지막 하이라이트..Black Friday

(대부분 상점에서 일년중에 가장 큰 큰 큰 세일을 하는 날)

다들 상점 신문들을 보고 계십니다. 

올해 Black Friday는 시댁 식구들 덕택에

그날밤 11:00 PM 부터 (3~5:00 살짝 자고)

그담날 아침6시까지 아이들 걱정없이 원없이 쇼핑을 할수있었습니다.

The last highlight of Thanksgiving was of course the Black Friday ads.  I don't know what we were thinking but we actually went shopping from 11:00 pm until 6 am the next morning.

Black Friday sale이 일년에 딱 한번뿐이라 참 다행입니다.

It's a good thing Black Friday only comes once a year because I was so tired after that.

이번 추수감사절은 참 뜻깊고 재미있게 보냈습니다.

할머님, 시아버님, 시어머님 그리고 이모님 다들 감사드립니다.

This was such a meaningful Thanksgiving holiday. Thank you so much to Great Grandma, Jeanine, Carl, Sue and our cousins Amelia, Megan and Porter. We had such a good time sharing Thanksgiving with you!

어느 토요일 아침 이였습니다.  

늘어지게 아침 잠을 자고 나와 보니 이러고들 있네요..

I slept in a little one Saturday morning and this is what I came out to...

 아스팔트에 껌 딱지 마냥 딱 붙어서들...
They were all over daddy like white on rice...

우리 딸래미들은 아빠를 참 좋아합니다.
Our girls love their daddy.
새벽같이 일어나서는 잠 자고 있는 저희들 침대에 와서는 아빠를 찾습니다.
Every morning when they wake up and come into our room they go right to daddy.
그러면 신랑은 애들을 데리고 침대를 빠져나갔니다.
So daddy gets out of bed and makes them breakfast and turns on their favorite Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for them.
그래서 저는 덕분에 아침잠은 충분히 잘수있습니다.
So that means I get to sleep in a little more :)
그러고 보니 제가 신랑에게 참 고마운점이 많습니다.
There are a lot of things I am really grateful to my husband for.
신랑은...
아침에 출근전에 항상 혜빈이를 목욕시키고 학교에 데리고 갑니다.
Every morning he gives Olivia a bath then drives her to school.
그럼 저는 맘 편하게 아침을 먹고 헬스장서 운동을 할수있습니다.
That gives me time to eat breakfast then go to the gym to work out.
회사에서 돌아오면 피곤하기도 할텐데 양복을 벗기도 전에 애들과 신나게 놀아줍니다.
Every day when he comes home from work I'm sure he's tired but he plays with the girls even before he changes out of his suit.
그럼 저는 저녁식사를 아무방해 받지않고 준비할수있습니다.
That gives me time to get dinner ready without any interruptions.
밥을 다먹고 나면 아이들 잠옷입히고 이 닦이고 책을 읽어주고 잠자리 정리를 하는 사람도 신랑입니다.
After dinner he gets the kids ready for bed, brushes their teeth, reads them a book and puts them to bed.
그럼 저는 저녁 식사 후 뒷정리를 빨리 마무리 할수있습니다.
That gives me time to clean up the kitchen and do the dishes after dinner.
애들을 다 재우고 마지막 토네이도가 한바탕 지나간 마냥 장난감과 인형들과 책이 뒤죽박죽 정신없이 어질어져있는 아이들 놀이방을 치우는 사람도 우리 신랑입니다.
And after the kids are in bed he cleans up the kids playroom. By the end of the day it looks like a tornado had hit with all the toys, books, stuffed animals, etc. everywhere.
그럼 저는 푹신한 쇼파에 않아 이렇게 블러그를 할수있습니다.
This gives me the time to rest on the couch and post more blogs!
그리고 주말은 항상 우리 가족에게 할애하는 우리 신랑...
And every weekend he spends with our family....

추수감사절

혜빈이 학교에서 Thanksgiving( 추수감사절)기르기 위해 준비했답니다. 

Olivia had a Thanksgiving party at her school.

 마트 종이 봉투를 오려서 원주민 옷을 만들고 머리에는 깃털을 달아서 헤어밴드를 만들고 

파스타 면으로 색을 칠해 목걸이를 만들어서 목에 걸었습니다.
They made Indian clothes out of paper bags, and made Indian feather hats, and dried pasta necklaces.

Gobble Gobble.-Thanksgiving때 먹는 칠면조가 내는 소리입니다.

손으로 칠면조를 만들었데요. 

혜빈이 손이 어디있나?

They also made pictures of turkeys with their hand prints.

 

그리고 하단에 아이들이 하고 싶은 말을 선생님이 적어놓으셨데요.

혜빈이는 엄마 아빠가 있어서 참 좋다고 했데요..
Then they wrote what each kid was thankful for underneath their turkey drawings.  Olivia said that she's happy to have mommy and daddy! haha

나오는길에 학생들 키를 적어놓은표가 있네요..

반친구중에 우리 혜빈(Olivia)이가 세번째로 키가 크네요.

그래도 여자애들중에는 일등이네요. 

아빠 닮아서 키가 클려나...

By the door in her classroom they mark the height of all of the students.  Olivia is 3rd tallest behind two boys! She is the tallest girl though... must take after daddy's height.

반친구중 한 엄마가 반친구들에게 준비한 추수감사절 선물 입니다.

한명당 한마리씩. 오리올 쿠키로 만든 칠면조입니다.

그냥 먹어치우기에는 아까워서 한컷 찰칵...

이런거 준비할 생각도 못했는데..

내년에는 나도 꼭 무언가를 해야겠습니다.
One of the moms prepared these Oreo Turkey treats for all of the students. Maybe next year I'll try to make something too!

계속 밀어오던 차고 대 청소를 큰 맘먹고 시작했습니다.

말만 차고지 실은 창고겸  애들 놀이터겸 세탁실 입니다.

혼자 치우고 정리하다보니 생각보다 시간이 많이 걸렸습니다. 

이거 옮기고 저거 옮기고 이거 버리고 저거 버리고 하는동안 

조용해서 뒤를 돌아보니이렇게 둘다 조용히 자고 있네요. 

이렇게 정신없는 곳에서 이렇게 고요히 잠을 자고 있네요.

I finally got around to cleaning out the garage. We call it a garage but in reality it is just a mix of our storage room, laundry room and also a playground for the girls. It took me a long time to do by myself. Moving this and that, throwing stuff away and so on.  All of the sudden I realized how quiet it was so I went out to check on the girls and they were both zonked out. It was so cute.

혜빈이는 푸우인형과 놀다가 의자에 앉아서 스르르 잠이 들고..
Olivia was cuddled up to her Pooh bear....

다빈이는 그네를 태워달라고 해서 올려서 몇번 밀어주다가 다시 와보니 이렇게 자고 있고요.

Sophie was fell asleep in her favorite swing.

Star of the Week

이번주에 혜빈이가 학교에서 star of the week가 되었습니다.
일주일동안 혜빈이가 학급에서 반장이되어서 선생님도 도와주고
수업중에 나가서 급우들 앞에서 가족 소개하고 좋아하는것들과 되고싶어하는것들을 발표한다네요..
그래서 사진첩을 다 뒤져서 혜빈이가 좋아하는것들과 가족사진들 몇장 뽑고
옛날 스크랩 북하는 실력 발휘해서 오리고 붙히고 디자인해서 엄마가 밤 1시까지 만든 꼴라주입니다.
혜빈이 숙제 인데 왜 제가 밤을 새야하는지....
아~ 이제 나도 학부형이 되는구나...


그날 혜빈이 데리러 학교 갔는데 선생님께서 혜빈이 발표 참 잘했답니다.


Olivia was the "Star of the Week" in her preschool class this week.  She got to be line leader, and go in front of the class and tell them about herself.  Mommy stayed up until 1 a.m. making a collage of the different things Olivia likes to eat and do.I don't think this is the last time Mommy will be up late doing Olivia's homework:)
Mrs. Joslin said Olivia did a great job standing in front of the class and introducing herself.  Nice job!!
